According to a recent SPECjAppServer2002 benchmark, BEA WebLogic Server achieved higher performance results with 131 percent more throughput and 69 percent less lower cost per transaction than IBM WebSphere. (July 9, 2003) - BEA, IBM, Microsoft, RSA Security, and VeriSign have released a new Web Services Federation Language (WS-Federation) specification which defines mechanisms allowing and brokering trust of identities, attributes, and authentication between participating Web services . The specification extends the WS-Trust model to allow attributes and pseudonyms to be integrated into the token issuance mechanism to provide federated identity mapping mechanisms.

The BEA eWorld conference was, in many ways, the same as every other conference I've attended. In other ways, it was quite different. The conference was held in the San Diego Convention Center, California, February 23-27, 2002. When I arrived, the hotel manager asked if I'd take a smoking room. 'No,' I replied. 'What's changed?' I thought. But hey, this was a subtle sign that the conference was packed (actually, BEA eWorld recorded over 2000 attendees)!
